Description
Fruit originating from South Africa and Israel. When ripe, the fruit opens close to the peduncle, part that binds the fruit to the plant. It is a typical table fruit, for consumption in natura. Its food value is high for sugars, but the appeal and quality of this fruit are due to its aroma and flavor, given by the components organic acids, lipids, phenols and volatile constituents, especially esters.
